Lily was born Lily ‘Barones’ van Heeckeren in Venezuela of Dutch Heritage and lived on a boat until 1965. From there, she moved to New York to finish high school and after two years abroad, Lily couldn’t deny her love of international Fashion and in 75’ enrolled in The School of ‘The Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne’ along the likes of Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) and Valentino. 

By 1980 Lily launched her own high-end boutique wholesale Collection ‘Barefoot Baroness’ in California. This success brought her to production in Indonesia, where she could showcase her unique eye for exclusive fabrics and design. Lily began creating her own distinctive batik’s, silk screened prints and specialised in interior design including curtains, slipcovers, custom built furniture and cushions. 

This same inspiration lead her to establish ‘Softly Furnished by Lily’ in 2006, travelling across Australia as a consultant and designer for major established Design Houses, such as La Maison, Town and Country: and her work was often featured in Australia’s ‘National Decoration and Design’ trade shows. 

Now settled in Byron Bay, Lily is known for her unparalleled interior designs, technical expertise and tailor-made approach.  As one of the world’s last students of ‘European Architectural Draping Design’,  Lily combines her 40+ years of experience, sophistication  and insight to achieve a 'Masters of Linen’ union guarantee  and this year launches her new and exclusive ‘Luxury Linen Fashion Collection’ - LVH Byron Bay.
